Mark Taylor

Pastor Mark

Mark came on board at Messiah as Interim Pastor in the beginning of 2022 and was elected Senior Pastor in October 2022. He brings to us a wide variety of ministry experience as well as non-ministry experience. He has a BA in History from UNC Chapel Hill, a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Masters in Education from Regent University. He has served in education positions in Chesterfield and Henrico Public Schools and the Virginia Correctional System, as a campus pastor at the University of Mississippi, Oxford and as Associate Pastor at Messiah.

Mark brings his diverse ministry experience- to college students, the incarcerated and in adult education- to his messages, making them engaging, relevant and challenging.

Mark and his wife Erika have been married since 2005 and have three children.

Jim Clendenen

Jim is our worship leader. His musical experience began at age 11, with instruction on both piano and saxophone. He graduated from Elon College with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. Through his musical journey, he's performed in numerous ensemble and solo situations as a singer and musician that range from big-band jazz to country music.

Jim has led worship at Messiah since shortly after its inception and led worship at most of its functions as well as leading the team at local prayer watches and outreaches. While his current focus is keyboard or guitar he occasionally is able to include sax or even whistles in services at Messiah!

Jim has been married to Karen Clendenen since 1986. They have one daughter, Erin who is married and currently resides in Texas.
